Methods for removing glass coatings:
1. Vapor-deposited glass can be polished and wiped with hydrochloric acid and zinc powder. Note that a final rinse is required when using this method.
2. Magnetron sputtering coatings also require polishing and wiping the thin film with hydrochloric acid and zinc powder. Because the film layer is sometimes thicker, the process takes longer than vapor deposition, and a final rinse is also necessary.
3. In-line vapor-deposited glass films are harder and thicker, requiring initial fumigation with HF steam followed by polishing with cerium oxide polishing powder to maintain the original glass clarity.
4. Acid immersion can be used for other types of coated glass. The acid immersion method requires control of immersion time and lift-off speed. Finally, clean the glass.
